Is there a city bus that goes out to #10? Neil responded there is not. Dianne thinks this needs to be corrected so parents will be able to get out to the school. This could also affect staff.
Should we get community groups involved with speaking to the Town regarding a bus route for this area?
Neil pointed out there are bus stops at schools now that do not have service areas in neighborhoods

Staff Development for Para-Professionals
Some TAs don't have computers in their homes and some don't know how to use a computer. These same TAs are working beside students who need help on the computer. We need staff development for all TAs.
Sam asked principals last spring what training TAs needed. Denise will check with her about their response.
Get them set up for Atomic Learning give them opportunities to take this training
TAs come in late on delayed opening days.
(Neil)They should be arriving at the same time as everyone else and be included in the training. Most elementary schools include TAs.

Equity
DELT talked about this at the last meeting.
This goes back to recruitment and retention according to Dianne. There are only 2 African-American teachers at Glenwood and only 4 total African-American staff members at the entire school.
We need more African-American PAR teachers and TOYs.
Universities should be promoting our district to upcoming teachers
An avenue is needed to address these issues. It was suggested that we have a round table discussion regarding how the district is perceived by minority teachers and community.
We would like to see Latino teachers at the middle schools
Has the number of minority teachers hired gone down? Is this because of the district’s reputation? (Note: Actually we had a very good year this year.)
Add to the new teachers orientation how to handle difficult parents. Let new teachers know this is a difficult community/culture. Prepare them for what to expect from parents.
How do we deal with how parents treat staff?
During open house, hold by grade level or PLCs and don't leave new teachers on their own. Provide support for them when meeting the parents.
There are very few African American teachers paired with African American TAs
You need team building between teachers and TAs at the beginning of the school year

CTE
Funding used to be provided for the number of students you could have in your class not on the number that are in your class
Students are added throughout the year
There is an issue with POs being canceled or held
